Sabrina Norlander Eliasson ha assunto il ruolo di vicedirettrice dell’Istituto nel gennaio 2023. È professore ordinario di storia dell’arte presso il Dipartimento di cultura ed estetica dell’Università di Stoccolma, dove ha fondato e diretto il Master Program internazionale in storia dell’arte tecnica (Technical Art History) e curatela museale. È specializzata in cultura monastica femminile nella Roma tardo barocca, con particolare attenzione alla cultura materiale, al consumo e agli spazi liminali all’interno delle aree conventuali di clausura. Ulteriori interessi di ricerca includono la migrazione e la mobilità delle tecniche artistiche nell’Europa del primo Settecento e tematiche artistiche nel romanzo dell’Ottocento. In collaborazione con il Museo Nazionale di Stoccolma, ha diretto il progetto Italian Paintings. Three centuries of collecting nel 2009 – 2015.
Attualmente, Sabrina sta chiudendo la monografia We are living like Queens. The Borghese apartment in SS Domenico e Sisto and the Materiality of Religious life in Baroque Rome, in prossima pubblicazione con Brepols Publishing. Il suo nuovo progetto di ricerca, finanziato dal Centro Nazionale di Ricerca svedese, si intitola Art and Science. Mobility and Cultural Transfer in the Age of Liberty e si svolge in collaborazione con partner in Svezia e in Italia.
