Common Ground. A research platform for digitized archaeological collections and archives at the Swedish Institutes in Athens, Rome and Istanbul.
Common Ground is a project that unites the Swedish Institutes in Athens, Istanbul and Rome in the creation of a joint digital platform for Swedish archaeological research in the Mediterranean. It is funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond. Through intensive inventory and registration work, material from Swedish archaeological projects in Greece, Italy and Turkey, including finds and significant documentation from the a number of important excavations. At the Swedish Institute in Rome, the project focuses on digitizing documentation from the well known excavations in Etruria, for example San Giovenale, Luni sul Mignone and Acquarossa. Our archive contains a wealth of material such as field journals, drawings and photographs. Through this project we ensure the long-term survival of the information and at the same time make it easier for scholars to do their research.
